Over the weekend parts of the country received a ton of snow. In Maryland, we received two feet - we haven't had a good storm like this since 2003 (which according to the newscasters was bigger than this one).
On Saturday afternoon, Chantel and I were extracted from our apartment (sounds official doesn't it??) by a friend who happens to own a black suburban and is a secret service agent (even more official). Where did we go? His house! So we could help his wife (a very good friend of mine) make pierogies - I was the roller because I'm not very good at "pinching". All 15 dozen of them! They're polish and it's a tradition in their family to eat them at Christmas time. Needless to say, we ate some them and chips/dip, cookies, pretzels and drank beer.
We make homemade soup, cookies, rolls, stews, roasts, cakes, and tons of comfort food during the holidays. We need comforting for many reasons, like - it's cold outside!, we're missing our families and it's cold outside!
So I'm blaming the winter weight gain on the snow and the fact the holidays bring us all together with family and friends to eat, drink and be merry!
