Happy Hanukkah - the Festival of Lights!

Hanukkah began at sundown on December 11. With blessings, games, and festive foods, Hanukkah celebrates the triumphs--both religious and military--of ancient Jewish heroes.

I could go on to tell you about the menorah and its eight candles, or how the Syrians forbade study of the Torah, so Jewish people who studied in secret kept spinning tops "sivivons, or dreidels" on hand so they could use them to play with to hide the fact they were studying, of course delicious latkes that were developed in Eastern Europe and of course, for the music lovers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vrd9p47MPHg  Adam Sandler.  I'm sure it's not an official Hanukkah song, but it's pretty funny.

It's important that all of us at least know the basics of each others religion - whether you're Jewish, Catholic, Muslim, Hindu or Christian so that we can respect the traditions and history that each of them have to offer.  Not to mention the fantastic food!

To all of my Jewish friends - Happy Hanukkah!
