I haven't written in almost a year so I thought I would start writing again since I am away from home for three weeks and not able to communicate like most parents or normal people. Phone calls home are limited to quick texts and short I love yous. Not to mention, "please text when you get to the next place" because C now has her drivers license. How much nicer can life get - you pass the drivers test and your mom leaves town without the car for three weeks?
Anyway, I'm in Wilmington, DE for work. Supporting 12 attorneys who will be arguing at a bench trial for a patent infringement case in Federal Court starting next Monday. I bet you're asking, why in the world are you there a week early? Well ... the attorneys need support ahead of time in the hotel so - ta da - here I am. We are in a "Law Center" in the hotel. The hotel has already set up a huge Center that has cubicles and offices for staff to support their attorneys. We rented computers, copiers and brought up three truck loads of supplies and exhibits with us. We have taken over two Salons and three bedrooms (which are now witness prep rooms) and we each have our own bedrooms for the next three weeks. In total there are 24 of us here working hard for our client to win this case.
My hours EVERYDAY for the next three weeks will be 6am to 8pm with the understanding that I can and will be called after that to work. There are two of us supporting the attorneys - the other persons hours are 8am to 10pm, with the same understanding that she may be called too.
So far so good, although I miss C - she's stepped up to the plate and being such a responsible young adult. She is driving to and from school, taking care of the dog, going to and from swimming every day and has to pick my mom up at the airport on Saturday. What an awesome daughter.
I'll try and post daily to let you know what I'm up to. Facebook these next couple of weeks is not an option. There's too much going on.
