One down two to go

Late, late, late last night, we settled with one of the defendants. This is great news for our client and for us!  I have no idea the terms of the settlement and I am perfectly fine with that - it's probably best that they're under seal anyway.  The great news for us, is that because we have settled with them we have just eliminated some time before the Judge. Which means - we get to come home early!  Maybe a day or two - but YAY!  The other two defendants have absolutely no interest in settling, they're in it for the long haul.

Tonight we had Famous Dave's for dinner (sorry C) and what a huge hit with everyone.  You would have thought they hadn't had BBQ before.  I couldn't believe the reaction from the attorneys - do they not get out?  Obviously they don't get some messy BBQ because I got a lot of looks when I told them that it was mostly finger food tonight.  At least I gave them a fork for the coleslaw and beans!  Sheesh!

I had an interesting experience this morning with an associate who is a low woman on the totem pole.  She e-mailed me early asking that someone run to Dunkin Donuts for an iced coffee with skim milk.  I responded telling her that I have Dunkin regular in the kitchen in the Law Center and I can brew it and make iced coffee for her and she said she didn't want it because it doesn't taste the same.

So ... I sent an e-mail to the team asking if there were any other orders, and two others responded.  I grab a legal assistant to drive me because there's no parking in downtown Wilmington.  We pull up, I get out of the car, walk into Dunkin and you would have thought I was Lady GaGa covered in meat.  The nasty looks I got were unnerving, but I walked right up to the counter, placed my three item order, paid and got the hell out of there.

I returned to the hotel and brought the iced coffee to low woman on the totem pole and attempted to explain to her that this is a two person process and it's in a not so nice neighborhood blah blah blah.  She took her iced coffee and walked out of the room.  I am thinking to myself, oh hell - no she didn't.

Apparently she's been rude to others so needless to say, I had a little chat with the partner in charge of our stay and put a squash to low woman on the totem poles Dunkin Donut Run requests. Moral of the story - don't mess with me.

It's my on-call night - off to bed.

Miss and love you C.
