A long chapter is closed

For the last three years I have volunteered endless thankless hours on my HOA Board of Directors.  I say thankless because most volunteer positions in the HOA world are thankless.  Think about it.   You're not going to call someone on your HOA Board and thank them for lowering your dues or making sure the common areas look nice year round.  You're going to call them to complain that the common areas look like crap and the dues went up!  Don't get me wrong, when I hosted events the people that attended those events were very thankful because they saw the time and energy that was involved in planning the event and because it was a good time.  Who isn't thankful for a good time?

Last evening I was not reelected to the Board and I am ok with that - I really am.  I've got a lot going on and quite frankly there are quite a few members of the Board that made it difficult for me to sleep at night and gave me heartburn more than usual. So much heartburn that even my prescription for heartburn wouldn't take care of it.

So, it's time to turn the page and start a new chapter.  C is ending her junior year in high school. We're looking forward to touring colleges in NE next week, then prom in May, working over the summer as a life guard, summer swim team (my favorite), college applications, senior year of high school and her high school graduation, I'll turn 40 and her big move to college.  Not to mention my second Master's Degree in Economic Crime.  AND - she's driving (and really good at it too).  MAYBE just MAYBE I'll lose the 50 pounds the doctor says I need to lose and ...

Did I mention I have a lot going on?

The community board structure will change and most of the time change is good.

  1. It sounds like you have a lot to look forward to. The best is yet to come. Thank you for all you have done and best of luck on the new things on the horizon.
