They come and they go

We had an expert witness fly in Saturday morning from good ole Knoxville TN. Very intelligent man - he has his Ph.D., MD and ABC just too many letters to put at the end of his name for me to list.  He's so intelligent that he's socially awkward.  You know the type - I know you do. We all know one or two of them. So book smart and their IQ is off the charts but their common sense isn't there and neither are their social skills.  That's him.  Two of our associates spent the last two days working with him to get him ready to testify tomorrow in Court.  They've been spending the ENTIRE day including dinner at a really nice restaurant to get this man to open up just a little and become a little bit more comfortable.

Then ... today about 610pm, I receive a panic e-mail.  Peg, please meet me in the hallway by Salon D ASAP. E (intentionally hiding her name). I'm thinking, she ripped her pants or she broke a heel maybe she needs something sewn (if you know me - she's definitely asking the wrong person to do it personally - however, I could find a tailor in a heartbeat).  So, I mosey down the hallway to meet E and get pulled aside to be told...   Dr. PhD ABC is NOT testifying tomorrow.  We need to get him on the next direct flight out of Philadelphia.

I'm thinking, what in the world??  I tell her OK. E - I'll take care of it.  Make sure Dr. PhD ABC is in his room packing his bags and we'll send him back to Knoxville.  I don't even want to know. Sure enough, the car service picked him up at 715pm for a 9pm flight back to TN.  Buh bye.  After said car service turned the corner from the hotel, I looked at E and said, come to my office and we walked into the kitchen of the Law Center and proceeded to have a glass of Yellow Tail Chardonnay.  I don't even want to know what happened but the color slowly returned to her face.

Apparently, Maryland had thunder storms last night.  Big thunderstorms like to set off my fire alarms in my apartment which none of us like, but the animals REALLY don't like it.  Poor C had the dog under her covers and the cats up by her head waiting for her to move over so they could climb in too.  She's such a good trooper.

Still no sign of my damn sock.  I even asked my regular house keeper (not the weekend lady) if she saw it.  Nothing.

I'm off to bed - go UCONN!
