Songs about Moving ... On

Do you know how many songs there are about moving on?  Let me give you a sample:

Billy Joel - "Moving Out"
Elliot Yamin - "Movin On" (great album by the way)
Beyonce, "Irreplaceable"
Elton John, "I'm Still Standing"
Jay-Z, "On to the Next One"
Johnny Nash, "I Can See Clearly Now"  (Al Roker's favorite song)
OMD, "If You Leave" (I still turn this up REALLY loud in the car)

How many do you know that are just about moving to a new place??  I mean think about it -

There's the Sound of Music - Farewell song (one of Chantel's favorites)
Peter, Paul and Mary - Leaving on a Jet Plane
Good Riddance - Time of Your Life

I certainly don't want songs about blame and burdens and bad break ups, although if you think about it, I had a bad break up with one of my attorneys after 12 years (don't get me started).   I mean - I am just moving 300 miles north, not breaking up a marriage (have to be married first) or breaking up a relationship (haven't been in one in...  don't get me started).

Even though I am not working right now, it's been hard to motivate myself to clean and throw things away (I do donate items if they're something I think someone would use and it hasn't been used much).  Yes, I am one of those people who throws things away CONSTANTLY!  If I haven't used it in about 6 months, it gets tossed.  It drives Chantel crazy - more than once she has left something around and I have tossed it - oops!

I tackled a hall closet today - it was kind of weird.  I found a small Lizzie McGuire beach chair that moved with us from the townhouse to the apartment because SOMEONE didn't want to pitch it, she LOVED that show (secretly, I did too- Hilary Duff is still awesome in my book).

I also went to the U-Haul store to buy boxes and tape.  Yep - it's started, I've made the initial trip, the rest of the stuff can be shipped to me (free shipping) so I don't have to carry the stuff up three flights of obnoxious steps.

Did I mention it's going to be a crazy week?  Swim meets on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.  Have a project due tomorrow at midnight for school - oh and headed to NH to see family on Wednesday afternoon (and no, we are not driving, I am crazy but I will NOT drive 11 hours each way for a two and a half day trip).

August 1 is looking really good about now to start REALLY packing, I have two weeks from then, that's plenty of time right??
